On July 20, Cornerstone welcomed 32 new Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) students to its Grand Rapids campus. The group is composed of graduate students pursuing an M.A. in TESOL (24), an ESL educational endorsement (seven) and certification in TESOL (one). According to Michael Pasquale, “We are happy to welcome new students from all over the world, from Africa, Asia and North America.” The blended format requires students to attend class for one or two weeks with subsequent courses occurring online and for graduate students, a second residency the following year. The TESOL program is unique with new cohort groups beginning each July, unlike other PGS degree programs which begin new groups throughout the year. Dr. Pasquale is optimistic about the new students, “We are blessed with another strong incoming class.”
