Cornerstone Welcomes Distinguised TESOL Scholar

Cornerstone University welcomes Dr. Suresh Canagarajah to the 4th annual TESOL lecture on Monday, October 5.  He will present “Global English: Pentecost or Babel?“ will be presented by Dr. Suresh Canagarajah who is the current editor of TESOL Quarterly and holds the Kirby Professorship in Language Learning at Penn State University. He will be honored with Cornerstone University’s Henry Osborn Award in Applied Linguistics and TESOL at Monday’s event and will be the second recipient of such award given to distinguished Christian scholars in applied linguistics and TESOL. 

Dr. Henry Osborn was a linguistics professor at Cornerstone from 1969-1985.  As the chief translation consultant with Bibles International, he contributed to numerous Bible translations and continues to do so in retirement. Dr. Osborn was recently honored with the William C. Haas Lifetime Service Award, presented by Baptist Mid- Missions. Bibles International is a division of Baptist Mid-Missions.
