Frequently Asked Questions

How is the design of the MBA program different from a traditional classroom?
Most individuals remember learning in a traditional classroom environment where much of the learning was centered around lectures, taking notes, tests, papers, etc. Four or five courses were taken simultaneously each semester. In our adult learning model, courses are 6-8 weeks long and are taken sequentially, one at a time, so that you can focus on the content. The MBA courses integrate practical experience and theory through assignments, case studies, simulations, small group discussions and projects. Though the curriculum is rigorous in its requirements, the learning opportunity for all students is enriched by the extensive and diversified culture and employment experience each brings to the classroom.

As globalization continues to impact me and the company where I work, how will the CU MBA program equip me with the tools to respond to those changes?
The Global Business Experience is an important component of the MBA program at CU. The experience is designed to expose students to the global marketplace - how companies expand globally and the impact of globalization in other countries.

At CU we believe that it's important for students to recognize their mission in the global market as well as their local workplace and how this translates to an organization. Through the global experience, students will gain an understanding of how "business as missions" (from a Christian worldview) prepares them to be better global leaders.

How is success measured for graduates of CU's MBA program, and are they prepared to compete against other MBA graduates in a global business environment?
The typical MBA student is a working adult with more than 10 years of business experience. This on-the-job experience is one of the strengths of the program with everyone capitalizing and networking in a collaborative learning environment. MBA students participate in dynamic teams that mirror the work environment.

Each student is required to compete in a Global Business Simulation, called GLO-BUS, at the end of their program. Final scores, when compared to students in other MBA programs from around the country, are in the top, demonstrating the preparedness of CU MBA students to compete in the global market.

Will my MBA from CU be recognized within the business community?
Cornerstone University is fully recognized and accredited by The Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Schools and Colleges. More than 50 business leaders  assisted in the development of our MBA program and have written letters endorsing it, making certain that our curriculum addresses current and relevant issues in the global marketplace of today and the future.

Do I have to have a bachelor's degree in business (or business-related background) to be successful in the MBA program?
While a business degree is helpful, work experience plays a key role in your success in the MBA program.
