Master of Arts in Education

The Master of Arts in Education program with its concentration in curriculum and instruction addresses the specific needs of today's educators. Integrating faith and learning, the program explores current issues in education related to leadership, values, pedagogy and differentiated instruction from a Christian worldview. Course work includes a high degree of personal involvement in the student's learning process and is directed toward the development of materials, resources, strategies and solutions for today's classroom.

Program Distinctives

Conceptually Integrated Program
Cornerstone University has a commitment to the integration of faith and learning. The MA in Education places great emphasis on issues relating to values, behavior and the Christian worldview. Students are encouraged to bring their beliefs and their faith with them to class. At the same time all students, regardless of their religious belief and/or denominational relationship who desire to study in a value-rich environment, are welcome at Cornerstone.

Differentiated Instruction
Cornerstone understands the need to prepare educators who are skilled in providing instruction to classrooms with a wide range of student ability and motivation. A theme which permeates all of our courses is the desire to provide strategies and techniques to educators who are faced with this reality.

National Teacher Certification
The graduate program is conceptually developed around the objectives established by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards. These standards are complimentary to accepted best practice, state certification and those of many districts and promote excellence in teaching. Upon completing the MA in Education program, the practitioner will have experienced several areas which are required for successful completion of the National Board Certification. While CU cannot offer this certification, students are encouraged to consider this opportunity by working directly with the National Standards Board.
